Community engagement & education
We believe education is key to coexisting with wildlife. By teaching people, especially children and young adults, about nature and conservation, we can reduce harm to birds and their habitats. Our programs, including guided tours, school groups, holiday clubs, and volunteer programmes aim to inspire a love for wildlife and promote sustainable practices. By working together, we can protect biodiversity and ensure a healthier planet.
HOLIDAY CLUB
We offer a fun, educational outdoor programme designed to keep children engaged, active, and inspired. Children take part in hands-on wildlife learning, meet resident birds of prey, enjoy creative crafts, and spend time playing and exploring in a safe, supervised environment. The programme encourages curiosity, builds a love for nature, and helps inspire the next generation of conservation champions.
VOLUNTEER PROGRAMMES
We offer rewarding volunteer opportunities for passionate individuals who want to make a real difference in wildlife conservation. Volunteers can support education and animal care or become part of the rescue and first aid team, gaining hands-on experience in bird care, public education, and wildlife rehabilitation. Our programmes provide behind-the-scenes insight into raptor conservation while promoting professionalism, teamwork, and respect for animal welfare in a safe, structured environment.
SCHOOL OUTINGS
We offer engaging educational guided tours and flying demonstrations that inspire learning through real-life wildlife experiences. Learners explore conservation, habitats, and diet, meet our resident birds of prey, and discover the vital role raptors play in keeping ecosystems in balance.

Last week, Dr Mark Brown (PhD Zoology) from Discover Eden and Raptor Rescue Plett gave an informative talk to our PCS privilege students about rehabilitating raptors.
Our students learnt how raptors are rescued, rehabilitated and released back into their natural habitat when they are fit enough.
They also learnt how birds get ringed for tracking purposes.
Our students connected with Dr Brown’s engaging content and are looking forward to him back again.
Thank you, Dr Brown for your passion for conservation and connecting with our students on a very practical level.
Check out the Conserve Eden and Raptor Rescue Plett websites, like and follow their pages and support their conservation efforts any way you can, as we train up the next generation to preserve the beauty of nature around
Born in Africa’s educational outings took 280 children from grade 2 till grade 10 to Raptor Rescue Plett this past winter holidays. They are a rehabilitation and awareness centre dedicated to birds of prey. Raptor Rescue provides a sanctuary for injured and orphaned birds, and is committed to rehab and release wherever possible.
Their flying demonstrations and tours were great to educate the children about raptor species and the conservation risks they face. The children also had time to play afterwards at The Heath Complex, which made it a great day for all ages to enjoy!
Thanks for having us.
Our class two’s went on an outing to enjoy a tour with our feathered friends at Raptor Rescue Plett. Their educational tour is unforgettable!
